My Favorite Music

Well hello there! Glad to see you again! Today I’m doing yet another post about my favorite things. I know y’all are probably getting pretty sick of these, but to be honest I’ve been crazy busy lately with all the end of the school year stuff, so I haven’t had much time to do anything else… I promise I have a more interesting post in the works though! For now you will just have to bear with me with these boring old posts.

Today we are talking about a topic that I particularly love: music!!! And here’s the reason I love it so much. (I’m about to go on quite a rampage here so buckle in and get ready for the ride!) I am not a super emotional person. I am generally optimistic and happy, and have a hard time thinking about the bad aspects of things, which sometimes comes across as unempathetic (is that a word? XD). A lot of my friends have a lot of rough days and feel sad a lot, but a lot of times, I can’t really relate to it! So, although I sympathize with them, it’s just not the same as having someone there who understands exactly what they’re going through. Don’t get me wrong, I have plenty of bad days. But for me, they are pretty far and few between, and I get over things pretty fast usually. (Though I did hold a grudge against a kid who ate my chapstick for like 5 years ๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿ˜‚ But that’s another story for another time…) I am a naturally optimistic person so even if something happened that day that would make someone else sad, my brain kinda just skips over that part of the day and focuses on the good parts! I’m not trying to brag or anything like that, it’s just how my brain works. So anyways, because of this, and because of how my family is (none of them are super emotional and none of them express emotions very well) I am not used to a lot of sad feelings that others might be more used to. I also don’t know how to deal with emotions very easily. In fact a lot of times when others are feeling really down or have some bad news and are telling me about it, I sometimes laugh. I know, I know, it’s cruel, but for some reason my automatic response to anything serious is to laugh. It also doesn’t help that my label at school is the girl who laughs too much. I laugh at EV-RY-THING. I don’t know how I have so many friends and how people aren’t totally sick of me yet, but they aren’t. Between laughing too much, constantly making snarky remarks to everything, and being incredibly sarcastic, I’m quite a basket case for my friends to deal with XD. Anywho, because I’m used to the serotonin and not the unhappy juice (whatever that brain chemical is called lol), I don’t know how to deal with and respond to serious/sad moments. I also am INCREDIBLY sarcastic, like I said before, so I guess people might think I’ll just be mean to them if they tell me something… (I’m not trying to be mean with the sarcasm. Another weird thing with my family is that we use sarcasm to show that we love each other) But anyways that’s besides the point. What I’m trying to say, is that I don’t know how to deal with others coming to me with their emotions, and I don’t know how to process my own emotions a lot of times. Where does music come into this? Well, it’s my way of communicating and processing my emotions in a way. I can express myself by playing the piano, listening to music, singing, and dancing. These music-related things allow me to feel emotions in a way that doesn’t make me feel awkward or weird about it. So, all that to say, music is a very meaningful and precious thing for me, and in this post, I wanted to show you guys all of the musical artists that make me feel those emotions!

Sheeshkabobs, guys! I’m sorry for that essay of an introduction! I sure got rambling on there…

ALSO!

Stick around until the end of the post for a very โœจSpEcIaLโœจ little surprise! And no fair cheating and just scrolling down just to see it. Read the post people!!

One more little disclaimer: yes, I have already made a post about this very thing. If you want to check it out click here. But BOY OH BOY has my music taste and favorite singers changed since last year! ๐Ÿ˜‚

Alright, alright, alright (I was intending for it to sound like Matthew McConaughey, so just say it in your brain like that. Or you could say it out loud. That works too. It’s more fun that way anyway.). Let’s get right into it!

First off we’re going to start off with my 4 top favorite artists:

BENEE - YouTube

BENEE

BENEE is one of my favorite artists right now! She’s an alternative artist, but she also has a very indie-like quality to her music. What I love about her is how diverse and different her voice is. She has an amazing range, but even when she sings really high notes, it has a more low quality to it, which I love. High sounding voices have their place (I mean look at Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey!), but they are more common, and I love the uniqueness to her voice. It also is a more gravelly type voice, but at the same time is crazy smooth. The best song of hers that shows this the best is her cover of the song Back To Black. This was originally by Amy Winehouse, but after listening to both of them, I think BENEE’s cover of it is wayyyy better. Her music is really chill, but her incredible voice and incredible story-telling abilities make all of her songs interesting until the very last second.

Keith Spera's Sound Check for June 13-19, 2019: Twenty One Pilots, Sebadoh, ADTR | | nola.com

Twenty One Pilots

These guys are such a cool band! They are both Christians but aren’t necessarily considered a Christian band, although they do put things referring to God and Christian theology in a lot of their songs. Because they are Christians, all of their songs are completely clean, which is awesome! The coolest thing is that they have created this whole made-up world using their songs, album covers, album names, etc. I don’t know all the details about it because my friend told me about it, but if you guys are Twenty One Pilots fans and you are interested, there is a whole video on YouTube about it!
These guys are also amazing singers and songwriters. They have really unique voices, but what’s really cool and what keeps their music interesting, is their writing and syncopations. The lyrics create a whole world for you, and they have a lot of humor in their songs too. The syncopations in their songs really keep you on your toes during the whole thing. Once you think you have the hang of the song, BOOM! It changes on you and you have no idea what’s coming next. I love this quality to their music, because it’s not like normal songs and just go with 4 main chords and keep switching between those for the continuation the song. All of their songs have so much variety and I am thoroughly obsessed with this band now!

Mxmtoon on Baeble Music

mxmtoon

Guys. I have a thing for interesting voices. I love the unconventional, and mxmtoon is definitely that. She has so much depth to her voice and so much emotion in all of her music. And it’s not overproduced like most music. It’s pretty raw, and I love it. The smoothness of her voice is just ahhhh! It’s so good! She is a pop artist, and her music is so relatable, which is why I think so many people love her (including me)!

Stonebridge bringing Johnnyswim to campus - Grove City College

Johnnyswim

This is a husband/wife duo and this girls voice… AHHHHH IT’S SOO GOODDD!! The depth and gravelly quality of the wife’s voice is so good! If you want a nice chill vibe, but also just some quality music, these two are a great group to go to. I recommend their album Georgica Pond. It’s my favorite one!

Next up we’re going to talk about my favorite songs/albums:

Hamilton (musical) - Wikipedia

Hamilton

As the peeps over at Zee Crazy Clan can tell you guys just how completely and totally obsessed I am with this play. It’s sooo good I love it so much! This play is all about our freaking amazing founding father Alexander Hamilton and his life. It gives you some amazing history, and some even better music! There’s some incredible talent in this play, and one of the actors, Daveed Diggs (playing Layfayette), does some incredible rapping in the song Guns and Ships, which I have a fun story about. One of my friends, who is also obsessed with this play, can rap Layfayette’s part freakishly well. She’s incredible! She’s just like me: a little bit (mmmm… maybe a lot a bit) extra. But I suggest going to listen to that song, and see how hard it is, and how amazing it is that she can do it!

Pride & Prejudice (2005) - IMDb

Pride and Prejudice

This movie… ahh. Again, the peeps over at Zee Crazy Clan can tell you how much I love this movie. (Especially Anna. She gets bombarded with my daily rantings about how much I love this movie. Sorry Anna ๐Ÿ˜ฌ) But I can’t help it! It’s just so so sooo good! I recommend going to watch it right this second! Back to the music though… The music in this is based around the late 1800s/early 1900s era, and – my favorite part – it’s mostly piano that plays the music, which means I get to play it on my piano and can enjoy the music whenever I want!!

Claire Rosinkranz Releases Music Video For Breakout Single โ€œBackyard Boyโ€ - That Eric Alper

Backyard Boy/Beverly Hills Boyfriend

These two songs by Claire Rosinkranz are some of my favorites!! They’re so good! Her voice is amazinggg! I don’t love everything of hers as much as I love these! They make me so happy and give me such summer vibes. Love it!

Did Too Much

This remix of Don Toliver’s song No Idea is amazinggg!! I literally play it on repeat it’s so good. LLusion is sooo good at doing so many remixes, but this one is definitely my favorite!!

The Wombats Tickets, 2021 Concert Tour Dates | Ticketmaster

Greek Tragedy (Oliver Nelson TikTok Remix)

This is another remix that I absolutely love! It’s from TikTok, as is the one above by LLusion. Basically every remix that I really love is from TikTok. The app itself might be real bad, but I lovee the music that comes out of it. Some great musical artists have emerged from it. The original song is by the Wombats, and although it’s good, it’s not anywhere near as good as the remix in my opinion.

TikTok Is Giving an Indie Band's 2008 Music Millions of New Streams - Rolling Stone

Hayloft/Burning Pile

These songs are by the European Indie band Mother Mother. I also listen to these on repeat – they are sooo good! Its hard to describe my love for these songs, but you guys should go and listen to them right now so you can understand how good they are!!

And thats it y’all! I hope you enjoyed! BUT WAIT! I forgot about the surprise!! Alright, here it is!!
